Custom Fireplace Glass Doors - Project #11013
Customer Comments: Hello, Please see attached for images of our fireplace. The height is 53.5 inches and the width is 46.5 inches. Since the screen is so large, we thought it may be best if we had doors on our screen since it is such a large opening. Please advise. I am also including two images of past projects that I like (see inspiration photos below). Image 1 shows a set of double doors that we like, but we would like the finish to be gold/brass. Image 2 is another design I really like, but would like to see the finish in gold/brass. Is it possible to have a screen this large in the dimensions we need? Thank you
Our Comments: The first inspiration photo you provided cannot be made in a polished brass or gold finish as it is made from steel by Design Specialties. Stone Manufacturing is the only company making screens and doors in solid brass anymore. So we have taken your concepts and created mockups of products made by Stone Manufacturing. The details of these designs can be modified to your preference (within limitations). Although some of these mockups are shown fitting the entire width and height of the opening, it is not necessary from a design or functional perspective to do so, particularly since the frame would need to be notched at the top to fit the mantel. Smaller than the opening actually might look better in either width, height or both. If you want operable doors, it is best to have the frame attached to fireplace rather than free standing. The last option is a good functional design for a free standing screen with doors.
Regarding Finish: The Diamond pattern you liked cannot be made from solid brass within any reasonable price. It is normally made from laser cut steel, so it is not available in polished or satin brass. Any of the items below that are indicated as "All Solid Brass" can come in a polished or satin brass finish. All of the other finishes shown below can be made on both solid brass or steel.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
