Custom Fireplace Glass Doors - Project #11133
Customer Comments: Dimensions of the fireplace are roughly 62 wide and 48 high. We're looking for model #62B with an 8 inch smoke guard across the top.
Our Comments: Free standing screens like the one you requested are not very stable when made so large. We suggest you also consider doors that are attached to the fireplace as they will be perfectly stable. Steel doors can be built with a wider frame on the top, aluminum doors can be made with a steel metal surround behind the door, both of which will act like a smoke guard. We have created several examples to show how they might look. For more ideas, view Project #11022 which is very similar to your fireplace.
Fireplace Opening: 62" W x 48" H
Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Free Standing Screen Door
This is the screen you requested showing how it will be constructed with fixed panels to reduce the size of the doors to 40 x 30. Doors must be kept below 40 x 30, otherwise the screen will tip over when you open the doors because it will be too top heavy.

Affordable Aluminum Doors
Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

Steel Doors
These doors are made from laser cut steel, so we can add a wider top frame to act as a smoke guard.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
